Orangeburg Re-Cover

Ensuring a secure and compliant work environment, safety lines were provided and set up around the roof perimeter according to OSHA guidelines. Skylights were safeguarded with temporary fall protection covers, and anchor points for harnesses were strategically placed near roof edges. The roof underwent meticulous cleaning, including the vacuuming of loose pea gravel with commercial vacuums, removal of the existing wall flashing membrane to the substrate, and a thorough blow-off of loose dirt and debris.

Preparing for the application of low-rise foam, the roof surface was primed, and 1” polyisocyanurate insulation boards was adhered using low-rise foam. Following this, a 60mil Carlisle SureWeld TPO was applied to the insulation boards with CAV GRIP III bonding adhesive. To ensure a seamless application, TPO was fully adhered to vertical surfaces using a solvent-based bonding adhesive. Additional installations include TPO pipe boots, pourable sealant pockets, TPO flashing strips on all curbs, and flashing of penetrations, corners, and T-joints as per manufacturer’s specifications. Seams between membranes were expertly welded with a hot air welder and probe for accuracy. The termination of the membrane was completed at edges with metal and pressure-sensitive cover tape, while vertical surfaces were terminated using a termination bar. Enhancing structural integrity, 24GA steel slip metal was installed underneath existing curb and wall flashing.
