Cope Re-Cover

Ensuring a safe and compliant work environment, safety measures were implemented, including the provision and setup of safety lines around the roof perimeter in accordance with OSHA guidelines. Skylights were protected by the installation of temporary fall protection covers, and anchor points for harnesses were strategically placed near roof edges. The roof surface underwent meticulous cleaning, involving the use of commercial vacuums to vacuum loose pea gravel, the removal of the existing wall flashing membrane to the substrate, and a thorough blow-off of loose dirt and debris.

Preparation for the low-rise foam application involves priming the roof surface and adhering 1” polyisocyanurate insulation boards using low-rise foam. The roofing system continues with the application of a 60mil Carlisle SureWeld TPO to iso boards using CAV GRIP III bonding adhesive. To ensure a secure application, TPO was fully adhered to vertical surfaces using a solvent-based bonding adhesive. Various installations follow, including TPO pipe boots (7 total), pourable sealant pockets (2 total), and TPO flashing strips on all curbs (234 LF). Meticulous attention is given to flashing all penetrations, corners, and T-joints as per manufacturers’ specifications, and seams between membranes are expertly welded with a hot air welder and probe for accuracy. The termination of the membrane at edges was completed with metal and pressure-sensitive cover tape, while vertical surfaces were terminated using a termination bar. Enhancing structural integrity, 24GA steel slip metal was installed underneath existing curb and wall flashing (555 LF), and 24GA steel counter flashing was provided on all wall terminations (144 LF).
